Ensuring Artists Receive Their Deserved Royalties

At Sansa, we're committed to ensuring that artists receive fair compensation for their creative work. We achieve this through a system called royalty normalization, which guarantees that artists receive their full royalties regardless of where their items are bought or sold.

Native Sansa Listings

When collectors create listings on Sansa, artists can rest assured that they will automatically receive their full royalties. These listings are not only featured on Sansa but also appear on other marketplaces like OpenSea, ensuring that artists' collectors have access to their works without missing out on sales. That’s why we strongly encourage all artists to recommend native Sansa listings as the best option for their collectors.

Items Listed on Other Marketplaces

If collectors list your items on other marketplaces like OpenSea, don't worry. These listings will still appear on Sansa in a way that ensures royalties. In this case, we utilise a system called royalty normalization.

Here's how royalty normalization works:

No Royalties

Imagine Collector A lists their item on OpenSea with 0% royalties, while you, the artist, have set royalties at 10%. Sansa will display this listing to your collectors, but it will automatically adjust the price to include the missing royalties. This means it will be available for sale on Sansa with the price adjusted to cover the royalties. When someone purchases the piece, we'll send the full royalty amount to the artist, just like a standard purchase with royalties.

Incorrect Royalties

In a scenario where a collector selects optional royalties that don't match the artist's specified amount, for instance, Collector A chooses to pay 5% royalties when the artist specified 10%, Sansa will still adjust the price. However, the adjustment will only cover the missing 5% between what the collector has set and the artist's specified amount.

Correct Royalties

When a listing specifies the correct royalties, Sansa will display it as is without any adjustments.
